My best pieces

Here are some of my past pieces for your viewing pleasure! I feel these are the 5 strongest pieces from my current past body of work. Feel free to give me feedback!

This piece is my final personal logo, and one of my favorite pieces I've made. It's a modified version of Didot, combining my first and last initial seamlessly into one new initial.

This piece is my typographic progression, showing young to old. I love the colors I chose, and I think they convey (along with the rolling crescendo of type) the journey of life.

I chose my book cover design to show for my third piece, a cover created for Gone Girl. I love how this turned out- the colors & design are sharp and arresting, just like the story.

This fourth piece is a poster design for the Atlanta Beltline- in my case, Atlantic Station. I spent a lot of time on the back of my poster designing the map, and I love the way the back flows from one feature to the next.

The final piece in this collection is my box set for American Horror Story: Hotel. I loved how this project turned out! I designed three DVD covers, the DVD housing unit, and a personalized hotel key for a collector's item. These pieces all meshed with each other perfectly and really spoke to the series.

I would say I have specific strengths and weaknesses in terms of my design skills. My strengths would definitely include my minimalistic design approach- I like a simple and clean design, which I believe lends itself to the current design trends. I also think a minimalistic, clean approach eliminates a lot of potential clutter from the design.
Another strength I have is my perfectionism and attention to detail- I won't stop until my idea is perfectly executed (at least as much as it can be!)

I would also include my perfectionist nature in my weaknesses category- it can lend itself to getting stuck in a deep hole. Sometimes I can't see that a design is good enough- I want to keep tweaking and refining it.
My other weakness is not being as creative as I can. I like the style I have, but I also feel like I limit myself it in at times. I really want to try and push myself this semester- I started to break out of my comfort zone last semester, which really helped my work. I want to further grow this semester!
